Obituary of Sarah Nabors

Sarah Eleanor Nabors Miss Nabors, 72, of Charlotte, NC passed peacefully into eternal life, Thursday morning at The Brian Center. She was born on November 25, 1936 in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Harry M. Nabors, Sr. and Eunice A. Nabors. Miss Nabors was raised in historic Plaza-Midwood. She worked tirelessly as a volunteer at the East Branch Library and earned the Volunteer of the Year award in the mid 1980?s. Her name remains on a plaque in the library?s Main Branch downtown. She loved children, animals, flowers and holidays and was always ready with a gift for any visitor. She is survived by her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Sterling, of Charlotte; cousin, Elmer Hilker, of Florida; sister-in-law, Kathy Nabors, of Denver, CO; many other cousins; and a lifetime of friends from her neighborhood and church, including Jan McDowell. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 29, 2009 at Grace Bible Chapel 8820 Idlewild Rd. Charlotte, NC 28227, with Reverend Donnie Preslar officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Grace Bible Church 8820 Idlewild Rd.
