Susie, age 72, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018. She was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee April 26, 1945 to the late Helen Ray Francis Elam and the late Robert A. Elam. She graduated from Harding High School, Class of 1963 and Mercy School of Nursing, Class of 1966. She loved nursing and was so grateful for her training at Mercy. She spent two years working night duty in the pediatric unit at Mercy. It was a hard time for her to lose so many little ones. She continued as an office nurse working as an Otolaryngeal nurse for Dr. Neil Howell of Charlotte who retired in 2010. She also retired in 2010 after a life threatening illness. She loved her job and loved her patients. She always made friends at work and enjoyed them all. She is survived by her loving sister Becky Skidmore, her grandchildren, Zachary, Zoe and Zeta Puckett and their mother Kelly Puckett; her niece Ashley Cowan (husband Chad), and her nephews Matthew (wife Becky), Lee Skidmore and her grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son Alan Puckett who passed away in 2006 at the age of 39 and her brother in law, Bill who was so much like the brother that she never had.
