Obituary of Louise Hoyle Walker

Cornelius, North Carolina - Louise Hoyle Walker passed peacefully with family present at Harris Hospice Presbyterian Hospital Charlotte NC on April 16, 2023.

 

Louise was born the eldest of five siblings to Hugh A. Walker and Mary Ella Clegg Walker in Shelby NC on Oct 1, 1929.


She graduated from Central High School in Charlotte NC, then continued her studies at Pfeiffer Junior College and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Later in life, she furthered her education, receiving her Masters in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.


Louise was active throughout life in both her church and community. She exemplified a life in service to others, counseling for many years with Vocational Rehabilitation, in school systems, and the courts, always striving to help others better themselves.


She greatly enjoyed being a sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and loyal friend to all who knew her.


She was a Matriarch and Lighthouse to our family, who will miss her wisdom and ever-present love.


She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Elaine McDonald of Brevard, NC and a brother Hugh Anderson Walker, Jr. of Waxhaw, NC.


She is survived by a brother Joseph Warren Walker, of Charlotte NC and a sister Judith Cooley, of Cedar Park TX. She is also survived by her children, Valerie Johnston of Blacksburg, VA, Mark A. Oder of Cornelius NC, and David A. Oder of Charlotte NC. Her legacy will also continue through her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews, in-laws and the many friends whom her life touched.

 

A celebration of her life will be on June 15,2023 at 1:00 pm at Community in Christ Lutheran Church, 7621 Norman Island Dr. Cornelius NC, 28031.
