Obituary of Catherine Ruth Sienkiewicz

Catherine Ruth "Cathy" Sienkiewicz, 74, of Charlotte, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023. Born on Tuesday, May 4, 1948, in Oxnard, California, she was the youngest daughter of the late John Jerome and Mary E. Burke. Cathy was a graduate of Marywood College, in Scranton, PA, with a bachelor’s degree. She worked early on, before leaving to be a stay-at-home mom while raising her 2 sons. As they grew older, she returned to the workforce, working as a Parrish/Business Office Manager at St Ann's Catholic Church, St Matthew's Catholic Church, Charlotte Preparatory School, and finally Charlotte Montessori School over the course of her career before retiring. She enjoyed sewing, painting, and general crafting, but most of all, Cathy was a dedicated wife and mother who loved spending time with her family every chance she got. She had a fantastic smile that always let you know that you were loved, and she was a strong, independent woman, and a real "Momma-Bear" - a model of strength and determination. Cathy is survived by her loving son, Jerome Edward "Jerry" Sienkiewicz and his wife, Stacey, and her 2 grandchildren Cameron McGuinness and Bailey McGuinness; sister, MaryEllen Kelly and her husband, James; numerous nieces and nephews; and many more loving family and friends who will all miss her immensely. In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her younger son, Brian Patrick Sienkiewicz, and her husband, Gerald Carl Sienkiewicz. A small service will be held at St Matthew Catholic Church on Thursday, May 4th at 3pm, and Cathy’s inurnment will be at the Columbarium at St Matthews, laid to rest alongside with her son, Brian, and husband, Gerald.
