Obituary of Donna Gebhardt Douglas

Donna Gebhardt Douglas, 70, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away November 21, 2022. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Charles Joseph and Betty Jean Gebhardt.

Donna is survived by her loving husband, David Allen Douglas, brother Chuck Gebhardt and sister-in-law Ginger Gebhardt, children David Allen Douglas Jr and his spouse Sabrina O’Neal Douglas and Dusti Douglas Jensen and her spouse Joshua Samuel Jensen, and grandchildren Everest Brooks Jensen, Rhodes Douglas Jensen, Shepherd Samuel Jensen, and Brendan Charles Douglas. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by grandson Lazarus Jett Jensen. While family was her primary interest, she was also passionate about volunteering, helping others, serving as a GAL for foster children, cooking, baking, teaching, lake life, RVing, flying, fashion, and her beloved dogs. Her larger-than-life personality blessed all those around her with warmth, comfort and adventure, and she would drop everything to be there for others in times of need. She honored her parents beautifully by providing years of caregiving in their final years and missed them incredibly. Nothing could light her up like being “Nonna” to her grandchildren, though her dogs came close. She always had little gifts in her purse for her grandsons every single time she saw them, and she would carry extra in case they had a friend with them. She knew and loved the Lord, and used her life as a way to be the tangible hands of God, from her home all the way across the world when she served on missions. She would want us to be comforted that she gets to be “Nonna” to Laz and a beloved daughter again, reunited with her parents and face to face with her Heavenly Father. The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203, with services following at 11am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Sharon Memorial Park.
