Obituary of Betty W. Boyd

Betty Wolfe Boyd, 92, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away October 18, 2022 at Sharon Towers. Born May 30, 1930, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Fred Walters Wolfe and Margaret Sturgis Wolfe. Betty was married to James Howard Boyd, Sr. for over six decades, until his passing in 2012. Betty was mother to four children: James Howard Boyd Jr., Richard Franklin Boyd, Melissa Boyd Ruprecht, and Edward Walter Boyd. Betty was the grandmother of twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Betty was the first of seven children, and is survived by her brother Bill Wolfe; sister, Margaret Wolfe Edens; sister, Nancy Wolfe Rivers; and sister, Jane Wolfe Thomas. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband James Howard Boyd, Sr.; sister, Freda Wolfe Sutton; and brother, Fred Wolfe Jr. Betty received a Masters Degree in education from Winthrop College, and was an educator in York County. Betty was a member of Avondale Presbyterian Church for six decades, and served as an elder. A family graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 12:00pm at Sharon Memorial Cemetery, in Charlotte, NC. A memorial service will be held on the same day, at 2:00pm at Avondale Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Jim Ewing officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Betty's name and sent to Avondale Presbyterian Church, 2821 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.
