Obituary of Eunice Maxine Foard Gladden

Eunice Maxine Foard Hawkins Gladden (Pat)

 

Reared by a loving family, single parent, grandmother, aunt, and uncle, she became a nurse in 1963. A year before graduating, she married Robert Hawkins. In 196, her daughter Sonya was born. Exactly two years later, her son Jeff was born.

In 1964, she took a position at Presbyterian in the Newborn Nursery where she worked for one year. After two years of moving from Charlotte to Atlanta to Orlando she returned to Charlotte and a position in Women’s Health Care at Presbyterian where she worked for the better part of 44 years, retiring in 2010 from the profession she loved.

After 13 years of marriage, she and Robert divorced. She then married Herbert Gladden and inherited four daughters and a wonderful mother-in-law and sister-in-law.

In 2015, after 38 years of marriage, she lost Herbert to a brain tumor.

Pat loved her children, Women’s Health Care, and her dogs. She enjoyed vegetable and flowers gardening. She joined Master Gardeners of Cabarrus County in 2013 and enjoyed hours of volunteering at various events.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Sonya; grandsons, Noah, and Justin; granddaughter, Taige.

stepdaughters, Melanie, Beth, Joan and Amy, their children, and grandchildren.

In 2019 Pat met Calvin Tyrrell and they were married May 12, 2021. The years after their marriage were the happiest of her life.

Unfortunately, Cancer was found in the fall of 2021, and she passed away in the spring of 2022.

She is preceded in death by her son, Jeff.
