Obituary of Argene Burris Hunley

Argene "Jean" Burris Hunley, 88, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away April 10, 2022. Born May 23, 1933, in Albemarle, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Claude Ernest Burris and Aney Almond Burris. She was a long-time member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church-Southend.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Sharon Hunley Nunn and her husband, Mark, of 45 years; grandsons, Joshua Nunn and Matthew Nunn and his wife, Mary Suzanne; eight beautiful great grandchildren: Gracie, Cyndi, Elliot, Olivia, Ivy, Molly, Ella Mae and Theo; and many more loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Lee Hunley of 60 years; her son, David Gene Hunley; and sister, Sethell Burleson.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Poplin Grove Baptist Churchyard, Albemarle, NC.
