Obituary of Kenneth Marion Plyler
Kenneth "Marion" Plyler, 81, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022. Born Tuesday, August 3, 1940 in Lancaster, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Julia Ernestine Hollins Plyler. Marion graduated from Lancaster High School in 1958 and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed going to and participating in car shows where he would show off his 1969 Chevy c-10 step-side truck with 383 Stroker Motor, turbo transmission and customized body. Marion also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and animals - especially his Great Danes. Marion was a doting father and grandfather with an extra special soul. He will be greatly missed.
Marion is survived by his loving children: Rebecca "Becky" Brown and her wife, Wendy, Sheila Watford and her husband, Vic, and Mark Plyler and his life partner, George; four grandchildren: Tamara Watford, Eric Watford and his wife, Madison, and Katie and Marissa Brown; two great grandchildren: Declan and Doug Watford; nieces: Donna Rollings and her husband, Tony, and Julie Bowers and her husband, Eddie; nephew: Clay Wright; and many more loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Sue Plyler; sister, Shirley Plyler Wright and her husband, James; grandmother, Hampie V. Hollins; and nephew, Dennis Wright.
The family will receive friends at 1:00PM with a Celebration of Marion's life to be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, 28203.
