Obituary of Lisa Beth Rockholt
Lisa Varn Rockholt, 61, died at home on January 23, 2022 in Charlotte, NC. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Dr. and Mrs. Miles H. Varn III. They moved around the country due to her father serving in the Army before settling in Greenville, SC in 1964. She graduated from J.L. Mann High School in 1979 and received her associate degree in Nursing from Greenville Tech in 1983.
She met the love of her life, Robert Rockholt, while he was attending Clemson University and after graduation moved to Augusta, Georgia to work at University Hospital as a Labor and Delivery nurse. They settled down and had 3 children, Kathleen, Kelly, and Preston. While working weekends and raising her children, she went back to the Medical College of Georgia and received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 1989. They moved to Lawrenceville, GA in 1998 and after Robert’s death in 1999, she and her children moved to Charlotte, NC.

She will always be remembered for her beautiful and enthusiastic smile and, and for her home was open to any of her children’s friends who needed it. She was also a lifelong learner and went on to get a paralegal certification, a forensic nurse certification, and her real estate license. s She was a breast cancer survivor and went on to become a Komen ambassador and was very passionate about this cause. She was also be remembered as a true Panthers fan and never wavered in her support of them.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rockholt and her father, Miles Herbert Varn III. She is survived by her 3 children, Kathleen Bloom (Matt), Kelly Karagounis (Andrew), and Preston Rockholt (Sydney Hiatt); mother Mattie Varn; brothers Dr. Miles Varn, Mark Varn, and Christopher Varn (Britton); sisters Mary Bodzy (Richard), and April Cope (Kevin) along with her nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held on February 5, 2022 at 2 pm at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Home, 1111 East Boulevard in Charlotte, NC.
