Obituary of Helen Brownlee Burn

Helen B. Burn, 89, went to be with her God and loved ones on January 19, 2022.  She was born in Johnsonville, SC.  She is the daughter of Joseph Preston Brownlee and Janie Belle Brownlee, and beloved wife of her late husband John Henry Burn.  She is survived by her daughters Debora Hutchins (Jack) and Melanie Radkin (Curt), and her granddaughter Megan Radkin, her sister Mary Muckenfuss (Floyd), and many loving friends.

Helen devoted 50 years of her life assisting others in their recovery from the effects of alcohol and drug addiction. Her unique wit and wisdom had a profound effect on countless lives. She will be greatly missed in the recovery community.

Below is a passage that Helen loved and that embodies her approach to life.

A Part of You – A Part of Me

In every moment that we have spent together, I have learned something, and that knowledge has become a permanent part of me.  Though my feelings may be different a year from now, or ten years from now, part of that difference will be because of you.

Because of you, I am a different person, and the person I grow to become, with or without you by my side, will have gotten there partly because of you.  Had you not been in my life, I would not be who I am.

I do not worry about our “future’ together since we have already touched each other and affected each other’s lives on so many levels that we can never be totally removed from one another.

A part of me will always be you, and a part of you will always be me. That much is certain, no matter what else happens.
