Judith Padgett

Obituary of Judith Elaine Padgett

Judith Elaine Padgett, 72, of Gastonia, NC, passed away late Friday afternoon, January 14, 2022. Born Wednesday, April 6, 1949, in Charlotte, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Dwight H. Padgett Sr. and Frances A. Padgett.  Judy had Parkinson’s disease, and died from related complications.  She fought the “good fight,” but ultimately, her body weakened by the disease, and she could not fight anymore.

Early in her career, she worked in real estate as a Realtor and a Property Manager.  Later, she changed her career to become an Antique Dealer following her lifetime passion.  She was a courageous, kind person who was honorable.  Funny and a bit shy, she was a lovely, creative woman.  A master of many trades, she loved to cook, garden, and interior design arrangements.  In our family, she was lovingly known as the “Christmas Kid.” Her decorations, gift wrappings, Christmas doors, and fireplace mantel arrangements were magazine-worthy.

A Christian first, her main focus was on her family and her Significant Other.  She never complained about her illness, keeping her mental clarity and optimism until her death.  William E. Huffman, her Significant Other for 25 years, faithfully took care of Judy through her illness with love and diligence.

Besides her parents, Judy was predeceased by her sister, Nancy E. Padgett, her brothers, Dwight H. Padgett, Jr., and Philip C. Padgett. She leaves behind two sisters, Rebecca S. Padgett and Angela P. Frey, her brother-in-law, Gerald R. L. Frey, her Significant Other, William E. Huffman, her nephew Ethan C. Padgett, and her niece Elizabeth Padgett.

The family will hold a private graveside service at Sharon Memorial on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 1:00 p. m.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Judith E. Padgett at Parkinson’s Association of the Carolinas, pac@parkinsonassociation.org
