Hattie Keziah

Obituary of Hattie Lee Keziah

Hattie Lee Ford Keziah, age 85, passed into the arms of the Lord on Sunday December 26, 2021 at Carolinas Medical Center Main in Charlotte NC.  Mrs. Keziah was born to Inez (Turbeville) and Lacy Ford on June 7, 1936 in Fairmont, North Carolina.

During the mid-1950’s she moved to Charlotte NC where she attended business school and met her husband, Tommy Keziah.  They were married on February 2, 1957.  Hattie was employed by Package Products Inc. where she held many roles in the accounting department.  Hattie continued to work while raising her three sons, Michael, Kenneth and Steven.  After 34 years, she retired from the company in 1998.

In addition to her parents, Hattie was preceded in death by her husband Tommy, her brothers Landis, Ireland, Earl and Vernon.  She is survived by her sons Michael (Mary), Kenneth, and Steven;  Grandchildren Bradley, Seth, Evan and Kasey; great grandchildren Abbi and Devon; Sisters-in-law Loretta Brown, Geraldine Ford and Laura Ford and many nieces and nephews around the USA.

Hattie enjoyed life to the fullest.  She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and lifelong neighbors.  She was a lover of animals and always enjoyed the companionship of a dog.  After retirement, she did some traveling to California and other areas to catch up with old friends.  She enjoyed having the opportunity to provide childcare for families. She fully enjoyed her membership in the local Friday Crochet Club at the Tyvola Senior Center in Charlotte, where she cherished her friendship with group members.  She joined in crocheting caps and blankets for premature babies for donation to local hospitals.  She also enjoyed attending the monthly senior adult gatherings at Park Road Baptist Church where she enjoyed lunch and fellowship with friends and neighbors.

First and foremost, Hattie was dedicated to her family and always made sure the family gathered at her home for birthdays, holidays and other occasions.  There was always a pot of chicken and dumplings or a home baked dessert awaiting in the kitchen.  Her home was warm and welcoming to all.
