Obituary of Betty Quinn Moore

Betty Louella Quinn Moore, daughter of the late Evan Thomas Quinn and Daisy Sipe Quinn Locke, went to her heavenly home on December 18, 2021. Betty was born August 27, 1932 in York, South Carolina. She graduated in 1950 from Central High School in Charlotte. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, “her Tom”, on August 30, 1951. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly to support her family. In high school, she worked at one of the first Sears in Charlotte. Later, she worked at various family owned businesses including a nut and candy store called the Nut House at Eastland Mall and the family’s real estate company, TPM Properties. She also volunteered with the girl scouts for many years and with local elections. Betty will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor. She was an amazing cook and shared her favorite recipes with family and friends. She was also a voracious reader, favoring mysteries and historical fiction. Betty is survived by her husband of 70 years, Thomas Peyton Moore III; her children Thomas Moore IV (Julie), Cynthia Kirby (Tom), Joseph Moore (Laura); her grandchildren Laura Lemons (Greg), Quinn Branecky (Paul), April Cutter (Brenden), Allie Fry (Zac), Cassidy Pate-Moore, Dylan Pate-Moore; and her great grandchildren Mylah, Evan, Calvin, Collin, Charlie June, Vivianne, Van, Daisy, Rosie, and Kirby. Also by caregivers Kathy McHenry, Flora Padron and many others. Services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, December 22, at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC, with visitation occurring prior at 1:00pm.
