Obituary of Mae Williams

Mae Cook Williams, 102 years old of Charlotte, passed away on October 20, 2021,  peacefully at her home.  Mae was born on November 25, 1918, in Lancaster County, SC to the late Zero Cook and Frances L. Smith Cook.  

Mae loved God.  That was evident by the way she lived her life.  She was a homemaker and loved her family.  Mae loved to sew.  She used to make all of the clothes for herself.  When her daughters were growing up, she often stayed up at night to make them dresses with a purse to match for school the next day.  She also made beautiful quilts. Shewas an avid reader, and loved to read mysteries.  She also was a good cook and she walked or would take the bus wherever she needed to go

Mae was predeceased in death by her husband, Robert Williams in 1988, her son, Robert "Larry" Williams in 2017 and her daughter, Patricia Dullin in 2009.  Mae  is survived by her daughter Rachel Wilson of Gloucester, Virginia, six grandchildren: April Sweat/Walter Sweat (spouse) of Gloucester, Garnett E. Wilson III/Pamela Wilson (spouse) of Hampton , VA., Ricky Sharpe/Wanda (spouse) of  Midland, NC, Mike Sharpe/Kathleen Sharpe (spouse) of Fairview, NC, Ivory Sommer/James Paris (boyfriend) of  Mint Hill,  Christie Rochelle of Pittsburgh, PA, 9 great grandchildren, and  6 great great grandchildren and extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday October 26, 2021, 3:45pm at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd. Charlotte.
