I was so sorry to hear of Jay's passing. He was my manager in Greenwich Connecticut in the mid1970s. He truly was one of the good guys. My deepest sympathy to the Kilkenny family. May Jay rest in peace in the Kingdom of God. Bill Holmes

Jay was a unique individual in so many ways. Gentle; intellectual; brilliant; kind.
We shared so many wonderful experiences and were very close in college and thereafter. I could wish for no better friend.
While life took us in separate directions, I looked him up yesterday to reconnect in an ironic and belated attempt to renew a long-valued relationship.
My sincerest condolences to Patrice, Brian, Nancy, Jane and Connor on his untimely passing. You do, however, have the legacy of having shared a very beautiful life with a wonderful man.

I am saddened to hear of this precious family's loss. Jay's unique style and wit, as well as his calming presence was experienced by all who crossed his path. I loved hearing his stories of the travels, concerts and events that he shared with his beautiful wife Patrice. He loved his family with his whole heart and spoke of them often. I pray that the memories of the wonderful life you shared together will be a comfort during this time of grief.

When Jay was CEO of United Thermal my wife had been quite ill. Jay and I were talking and I casually mentioned she was a Rolling Stones fan. The next day, Jay had arranged a trip for the two of us to see the Stones Steel Wheel Concert in Atlantic City. It was honestly one of most thoughtful things at just the right moment. Jay was a class act in way.

While it was a professional relationship in his role leading the Burning Tree Board, I always felt like I was working with a friend. Jay was supportive and enthusiastic about all that surrounded the Burning Tree family and was such a joy to be with and work with. Our paths separated but my memories of the working relationship never did.
To his family, please accept my heartfelt condolences and I can only imagine the loss of such a fine friend.

The world was a better place with Jay in it but he and Patrice made a great legacy and many happy memories. I remember a very hansome sweet young man who I met 54 years ago at Fordham. He was one of the good guys. He grew to be one of the greats.
