Obituary of Kathleen Ann Brennan

KATHLEEN ANN KENNEY BRENNAN, age 61 passed away after a brief illness on September 1, 2021. Kathy was a graduate of Mary Washington University (B.A., 1981) and DePaul University School of Law (J.D., 1986). She worked tirelessly as an immigration attorney in Charlotte and as a guardian ad litem for minor children.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 25 years, James N. Brennan, IV. She is survived by her sons, James Brennan and his partner Courtney Coppage both of Chapel Hill, Edward Brennan of Raleigh, Jack Brennan of Raleigh and Michael Brennan a student at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont. She is also survived by her father William Kenney and brother John Kenney, both of Charlotte, her sister and brother-in-law, Martha Kenney Thomas and Glenn D. Thomas of Monkton, MD, her sister and brother-in-law, Ann Kenney Creighton and Mark T. Creighton of Earlysville, VA and many close friends and relatives.

The Catholic Mass of Resurrection will be offered for her on October 1, 2021 at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with interment in St. Gabriel's Columbarium immediately thereafter.

The family requests that memorials in her name be made to Catholic Charities of Charlotte for immigration services.
