Paul Fielder

Obituary of Paul Francis Fielder

Paul Francis Fielder passed peacefully into Heaven at his home on September 13, 2021 at the age of 92. He had a long life and lived it well. It was his time to move on. He was born in Thornwood, NY and attended Pleasantville High School where he excelled in Basketball and Baseball. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Charlotte Stevens, and spent the next 72 years being the best husband and father he could be. He is survived by his wife Charlotte, his 5 children: Paul Fielder (Jennifer), Thompson Falls, MT, Daniel Fielder (Dale), Sharpsburg, GA, Michele Pocha (Don), Helena, MT, Kathy Cleaton, Charlotte NC, and Suzanne Johnson (Kevin), Laurens, NY. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Jennifer, Josh, Jamie, Jessie, Adam, René, Paul, Daniel, Devan, Luke, their spouses, and 11 great grandchildren. Paul Francis Fielder was a man of integrity and raised his family on the virtues of honesty, courage, honor, respect, responsibility, and authenticity. He gave his children solid family roots, good work ethics, and wings to pursue their own futures. Always willing to serve, Paul was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force and later served as a volunteer fireman with the Thornwood Fire Department for close to two decades. He was employed by Frank Duffy and Son, Inc. in Mount Kisco, NY and was a proud member of the Plumbing and Steamfitters Union UA Local 21. He spent evenings teaching young apprentices the plumbing trade. Paul was a dedicated parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was the type of man that could do anything he set his mind to. He built his own home at a young age where he raised his family. He engaged his family in basketball, baseball, and coached local Little League teams. He took his family camping and hiking and on beach vacations so they could enjoy and developed their interests in the great outdoors. After retirement he and his wife moved to Charlotte, NC for several years where they were able to spend time with their growing grandchildren. They then relocated to Leesburg, FL and lived at the Plantation where they spent their Golden Years. At the Plantation they were very active members involved in sports, theater, and other social functions where they developed many friendships. Health issues later made it necessary to come back to Charlotte, NC where Paul and his wife lived with his daughter, Kathy, for the last 6 years. More than anything, Paul loved spending time with his family; his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who are left with many cherished memories of laughter and love. If Paul F. Fielder left a legacy, it was the deep and unconditional love he had for his beloved Charlotte. This love has been his greatest gift to all who’ve been blessed enough to have been in their presence. There will be a small private service for Paul at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Home in Charlotte, NC. In Lieu of flowers the family asks you to send donations to Hospice Foundation of America 1707 L Street NW, Suite 220, Washington, DC 20036.
