Obituary of David Gene Hunley

David Gene Hunley, 60, of Huntersville, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 8, 2021. Born Monday, October 31, 1960 in Charlotte, North Carolina, he was the son of Argene "Jean" Burris Hunley and the late Robert Lee Hunley.  

In addition to his mother, David is survived by his sister, Sharon Hunley Nunn and her husband of 44 years and his beloved friend, Mark; nephews: Joshua Nunn and Matthew Nunn and his wife, Mary; several nieces, nephews and many more family and friends.  

A viewing for family and friends will be held Wednesday, May 12, at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Poplin Grove Baptist Churchyard, 220 Poplins Grove Church Road Albemarle, NC 28001.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s name to the Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurosciences Departments at Atrium Health, Charlotte’s Medical Center, www.AtriumHealth.org.
