Obituary of Patricia Garrett Lawton

Patricia Gray Garrett Lawton, 86 of Charlotte passed away on April 7, 2021.  Born in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Garrett and Frances Ayers Garrett. 

Patricia attended Charlotte City schools, as well as Central High School and graduated from Myers Park High School.  She then went onto and graduated from Southern Seminary, Buena Vista, VA.  Prior to retirement, she worked at the Department of Social Services.

Patricia was a member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church, a volunteer at Loaves & Fishes and a member of the Red Fez Shrine Club Camelettes.

Patricia was predeceased by her husband John Cater Lawton, Jr. and is survived by her son, James Garrett Lawton and her grandson, David Penn Skinnell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patricia’s memory to the Mecklenburg County Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
