Wendy Weinberger

Obituary of Wendy Weinberger

Wendy Weinberger passed away surrounded by love Saturday morning, December 19, 2020 in Charlotte, NC. She always made a room brighter and made people feel like they were the only person who mattered.

Wendy grew up in Montreal, Canada. She went to graduate school in Boston where she met the love of her life, Roy Weinberger. The two were married for more than 51 years and would say their great achievements were their two children, Laurabree and Blake. She created a beautiful home full of laughter.  Seeing their children’s families grow brought Wendy & Roy endless joy. Laurabree and her husband Keith live just down the street from them in Fort Mill, South Carolina and have two children, Ethan (9) and Lilah (7). Blake and his wife Dana live in Atlanta and have a little girl, Millie (22 months).

Wendy spent many years working at various library systems in New York, New Jersey and Georgia. She loved her start as a children’s librarian, but most of her professional career was spent as a library director. She also always stepped in to volunteer at her kids schools, making any event just a little more fun.

In her spare time, Wendy enjoyed performing in community theater. She stole the show no matter the role. When her children were young, they performed with her and most recently she and her husband performed together at the Fort Mill Community Playhouse.  She also loved traveling and telling stories - but her greatest love was just being with her family.

While she bravely fought Parkinson’s disease for many years it was ultimately a brain aneurysm that took her life – the family is grateful for all the love and support from near and far. In lieu of flowers please feel free to donate to Memory & Movement Charlotte (https://www.mmclt.org) or a charitable organization of your choice.
