Obituary of Elizabeth Hattersley Basinger

Elizabeth "Betty" Hattersley Basinger, 96, gained her Heavenly reward on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

Betty was born in St. Louis, MO on November 9, 1924, to the late Joseph Wright and Louise Heslep Hattersley. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, Betty was a positive influence on her family, friends and everyone she met. She had a wonderful positive demeanor that endeared her to all. Mom would tell everyone that she had a blessed life. She especially enjoyed her mountain friends at Gingercake and her many real estate friends that she and Dad traveled with across the county.

Betty supported many causes including charities such as St. Jude's, AMVETS, ASPCA, Friendship Trays, Wounded Warriors and many others. She loved her family and was always willing to give of her time and energy to enrich our lives. Betty and her husband, Jimmy, were happily married for 73 years. Theirs was a bond that sustained them both in their later years. Betty was a life-long Lutheran and was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Charlotte for many years.

Betty is survived by her husband of 73 years, Jimmy; sons, J.A. "Drew" Basinger, III and his wife, Sally, and David W. Basinger and his wife, Lisa; two grandsons; two great grandsons; and my more loving nieces and nephews.

Interment will be held in a private ceremony at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Columbarium at a date to be determined.

The family would like to thank the excellent teams at Carolina Medical Center, 6th floor cardio wing, Carrington Skilled Nursing, Cadence Senior Living, as well as Hospice of Charlotte for the wonderful care they provided to our mother over the past several months.

Any donations may be given to the donor's charity of choice.
