Obituary of Helen Hatley

Helen Hatley, 96, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020. Born Monday, October 13, 1924, in Charlotte, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mamie Helms Culp. Helen served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of devote member of Berryhill Baptist Church and was very active in her community. She was a very giving woman and loved the Lord, her children and grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her loving children, Donna Martin of Concord, NC, and Donnie Hatley of Kannapolis, NC; 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Donald “Don” Hatley; and son, Daniel Lynn Hatley.

The family would like to give their special thanks to PruittHealth – Harrisburg, NC – and to Tucker Hospice House for all of their care and gentleness they gave to her.

She was loved by all at the nursing home as well as by her family and friends. She will be missed greatly, especially by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. with a funeral ceremony to begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 6, in the chapel of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard Charlotte, with Pastor Scott Davis officiating. A graveside service will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte, NC.
