Obituary of Sue S. Evans

Sue S. Evans, 76, of Mooresville, NC, passed away on December 20, 2019 in Statesville, NC.

 

Visitation, will be at 10AM on December 23, 2019 at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 South Boulevard, Charlotte, NC

 

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on December 23, 2019 at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, officiated by Bobby Morrow.  Arrangements are by Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home of Charlotte.

 

Sue was born In Morganton, NC to Johnnie Benton Smith Sr. and Maybelle Jones Smith on April 21, 1943.  She married Jasper D. Evans on February 15, 1980 in Charlotte, NC. She worked as a Trainer for AT&T for 30 years.  She volunteered at the North Carolina Baptist Men’s Association for many years alongside her husband Jasper.  They volunteered in both foreign and domestic geographies to assist with many natural disasters.  She was a long-time member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and assisted with the thrift store at the church.  She contributed to many charities throughout the years.

 

Sue is preceded in death by her parents Johnnie Benton Smith Sr. and Maybelle Jones Smith, Betty Payne, Pauline Craig, JB Smith Jr. and stepdaughter Stephanie Evans.

 

Sue is survived by Spouse: Jasper Evans, Step children & Spouses: Kathy & Roger Moore, Jean Patterson, Doug and Kathy Evans, Melanie Harper, Marcia & Robert Rhyne, Jon & Becky Evans.  Brothers and sisters:  Ralph M. Smith, Linda S. Gayle, Bennie S. Miller & Alva Lee Smith.  She leaves a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the North Carolina Baptist Men’s Association (P.O Box 1107, Cary, NC 27512-1107).  The family of Sue wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Gordon House Hospice for their assistance and compassion.
