Obituary of Iris Priscilla Kory Comen-Kaplan

Iris Priscilla Kory Comen- Kaplan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 01. 2019 at Sardis Oaks Nursing Home in Charlotte, NC. She was 93 years old.  Iris was born in NYC, NY daughter of the late Louis Kory and Lucille Kreinick Kory. She was a loving and hard working wife and mother. Iris is surivived by her two sons Steven Comen and his wife Sondra of Charlotte, NC and Robert William Comen and his wife Cheryl of Matthews, NC and her step-son Richard Kaplan. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Melissa, Stephanie, Lindsay, Alex and Danielle, and her four great-grandchildren, Brendan, Cooper, Griffin and Hallie. In addition to her late parents, Iris was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerome Comen, and her second husband, Herber Kaplan, and her beloved daughter Laurie Comen in 2005, and her late brother Michael Kory. A private memorial service was held at 10:30AM on Friday, October 4, 2019  in the Mindy Levine Memorial Chapel of Temple Israel Synagogue, Charlotte, NC, with Cantor Elias Roochvarg officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Iris' name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
