Obituary of Carolyn Cashion McKee

Carolyn Cashion McKee, of Fuquay-Varina, NC and formerly of Charlotte, passed away at her home at Avendelle at Fuquay on Friday, September 20, 2019. 

Carolyn was born in Mooresville, NC on May 11, 1931, daughter of the late Keith and Mary Banks Cashion. She was a homemaker for many years, taking care of her family. She spent several years as an employee of Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte where she worked at the Drop-in Center. She also served on several Boards trying to help provide better facilities for children and adults like her eldest son Allen, who had severe mental and physical handicaps. Carolyn enjoyed reading, watching western movies and TV shows, sitting on her screened porch admiring the produce out of her garden, and spending time with family, especially with her two grandsons. 

She was married to George Allen McKee for 52 years, until his passing in 2005. 

Survivors include her son, Steve McKee and his wife, Michelle of Apex, NC; sister Marilyn Cashion Hunter of Charlotte, grandsons Justin McKee of Wilmington and Joshua McKee of Charlotte, and several nieces and nephews. 

The family will be receiving friends at the Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home, 1111 East Boulevard in Charlotte at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 and followed with a funeral service to celebrate her life at 2:00 p.m. A short graveside service will be held afterwards at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte. The Reverend Jeffrey Ingold from St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where Carolyn was a member for many years will be officiating.
