Fotini P. Makrigiannis

Fotini Makrigiannis, 84, of Charlotte passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, February 8, 2019 surrounded by her family.  Fotini was born September 19, 1934 in Megalo Horio, Evrytania, Greece, a daughter of the late Panayiotis and Ekaterini Makrigiannis.

Fotini was a loving sister, sister-in-law, Godmother, aunt, great-aunt, friend, and neighbor. Ms. Makrigiannis was employed by Lance Corporation for many years until her retirement.  A long time member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Megalohoriton Association, she actively volunteered at the Greek Festival.  Fotini enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, knitting blankets, and tending to her gardens.  She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Fotini is preceded in death by her brother, Haralambos (Harry) Makris of Florence, SC, her sister, Vasiliki Tasios, and her brother-in-law, Georgios Tasios of Charlotte, NC.

Survivors include her brother, Dimitrios Makrigiannis and his wife, Eleni; sister-in-law, Bessie Makris; Godson, George Koutsopoulos, and her many nieces and nephews.

A Trisagion followed by a Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2019 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m.  Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Panagia Prousiotissa Chapel, c/o Evrytanian Association, 121 Greenwich Rd, Charlotte, NC  28211 or the Renovation Fund at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC  28203.
