Obituary of Kenneth Flenniken

Kenneth N. Flenniken, age 86 of Indian Trail, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018. Mr. Flenniken was a member at Calvary Church since 1966 and retired from Charlotte Christian School in 2015 after 40 years of faithful service on the maintenance team. He began working at Charlotte Christian in 1974 as the school's only custodian. As a young man, he worked at Morrocroft Dairy Farm and Shaw Manufacturing Company. In 2003, He and his wife Joyce were honored for their many years of dedication and service to Charlotte Christian School and the remodeled dining hall was named for them. On Thursday, October 18, Kenneth and Joyce would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Preceded in death by his parents James and Jean Flenniken; daughters, Patricia Lynn Flenniken and Donna Kay Flenniken Buchanan; son-in-law, Alan Vincent Jackson; brothers, James Franklin Flenniken Jr. and Coy Flenniken; sister, Betty Flenniken Alexander; and an infant brother. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Hawfield Flenniken; daughters, Mary Jane Tegard (Chris), Sharon Marie Flenniken, Susan Flenniken Keim (Edward), and Margaret Ann Jackson; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and one on the way; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Dorothy Flenniken Godfrey (Wayne); and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. at Calvary Church, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Rd, Charlotte, NC 28226.
