Obituary of Harry Erwin Davenport, Sr.

Harry “Erwin” Davenport, Sr., age 89 of Charlotte, NC died Thursday, September 6, 2018.

Harry was born in Charlotte, NC to the late Robert W. Davenport and Mary K. Davenport.

Harry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952. He owned and operated Davenport Oil Company for over 60 years.  He and his late wife, Shirley, were long time members of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, R.W. Davenport, Jr. sister, Mildred Spargo and brother A.W. Davenport.

Harry is survived by his children; Sherry Brown (Jerry) of Columbia, SC; Ronald Dunlap (Susan) of Charlotte, NC, Scott Davenport of Raleigh, NC, Patricia Ogburn (James) of Charlotte, NC, Robert Davenport of Charlotte, NC, Harry Davenport, Jr.( Kim) of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held 3:00 PM Monday, September 10, 2018 at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, 7407 Steele Creek Road, Charlotte, NC  28217.  Visitation will take place prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church.
