Obituary of Milton Harold Villas

Milton Harold Villas (Milt) of North Myrtle Beach, (formerly of Charlotte, NC) went to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ suddenly at the age of 78 on the morning of Sunday, August 19th, 2018.  Milt was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Milt will be forever loved and remembered by his wife, Lynda Williams Villas, sister, Betsy (and Hank) White, daughters Jaimie (and Bobby) Peterson, Jennifer Villas and Kim Brodrick and sons Scott Villas and Todd (and Vicki) Mauney. Milt also leaves behind 7 granddaughters (Meagan, Madi, Macey, Cassie, Jessica, Erica, and Kiersten), 5 grandsons (Corey, Connor, Aaron, Cody and Christopher) and his expected first great grandson, Rhett, who were all the light of his life. Milt will also be greatly missed and forever remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends.

A native of Charlotte, N.C., Milt was born in 1940 to Spiros and Elizabeth Villas.  He graduated from Central High School in 1959 before attending Oak Ridge Military Academy and soon thereafter earning a degree from Lenoir–Rhyne University in Hickory, NC.

Milt enjoyed a successful career as a medical sales professional, receiving national recognition and accolades from several major medical companies.  He was also an entrepreneur, once owning a Gymnastics Training Center, a trucking company and in recent years, founding Ophthalmology OneSource to supply surgical instruments and supplies to ophthalmologists in the Carolinas.

For over 40 years, Milt mentored young people of all ages coaching and refereeing football, basketball, softball and volleyball. This was more than a hobby, it was his passion and nothing gave him more joy than to call High School football on Friday nights and spend time with his fellow officials.

He and Lynda moved to North Myrtle Beach five years ago this summer to spend more time with family, shagging and riding around in his prized golf cart to meet new people in the area.  Milt was also a servant of his first love, Jesus Christ, gifting The Church of the Lost and Found with his gifts for leadership.  In fact, he was doing the Lord’s work, preparing for service early Sunday morning when he met his Savior.  What a marvelous journey it must have been, only feet from the ocean and in one of his lifelong favorite shagging venues turned sanctuary each Sunday morning.

More than anything, Milt enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He’d talk the ears off a jack rabbit and never met a stranger.  He was a generous and selfless man, willing to give the shirt off his back to someone in need.  With his Greek heritage, he loved food and enjoyed breaking bread with those he knew and loved.  A man larger than life, he made a huge impression on everyone he met and will be dearly missed by all of us he leaves behind.

A visitation will be held this Thurs., August 23, 2018 from 6-8pm at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Services located at 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.
