Obituary of Bruce Brunson Cadieu

Bruce Brunson Cadieu, 92, passed away on August 12, 2018.  He was born on February 15, 1926 in Charlotte, North Carolina to Adam and Susie Cadieu.  The baby in a family of seven children, Bruce grew up in Charlotte and graduated from Oakhurst High School as president of his senior class in 1943.  After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country as a Pharmacist Mate, Second Class, Petty Officer, and supported our troops stateside though the duration of WWII.  He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce from UNC Chapel Hill in 1950, always bleeding Carolina blue.

He married Ila Grace Fowler, the love of his life, on August 8, 1953. He fell in love with her flawless beauty and strong will. Together, they raised three amazing daughters, Joy, Jan and Lynne, as strong and independent women. As a family, they spent time at the river cabin on Lake Wiley and traveled on family road trips throughout the States and far away provinces of Canada including Prince Edward Island.  Bruce had a long and dynamic career in the automotive industry, thoroughly enjoying his work for 32 years. He retired from Nissan Motor Corporation as the Southeast Regional Manager at the age of 72.

Bruce was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, lovingly known to many as Daddy, Papa, Uncle Bruce, Brunson, or BBC. He took care of others selflessly, always making each person feel special through his focused time and attention. He valued family, faith, and hard work.  He was a dreamer with an independent spirit, creating his own successful future with kindness and determination.

He touched more lives than we may ever know. He will be dearly missed by his companion, Kathleen Levanson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ila Grace Fowler Cadieu, his brothers, Ashworth, Robert, Henry and Myers, and sisters, Virginia and Edith. He is survived by his daughters, Joy(Mark)Braunlich, Jan (Rick) Norris and Lynne (Brad)Murchison; his grandchildren, Lea(Laavanya) Gombar, Laura(Tristan) Frolich, Stephen (Leila Watkins) Norris, Madison Norris, Grace Murchison, Meredith Murchison and Duncan Murchison; and his four great grandchildren, Stella Gombar, Juliette Gombar, Harper Frolich and Sydney Frolich.
