James Hubert Long, 75, of Pineville, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021. Born August 23, 1945 in Matthews, North Carolina, one of thirteen brothers and sisters, he was the son of the late Frank and Hattie Whitworth Long. James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, shag dancing, playing golf and walking in the Heart Association Walk-a-thons. He spent over 40 years with Woodward Compressor Company. A favorite past-time was taking his two sons to the beach and fishing and spending time with Mr. Beasley, his Yorkie, who he would go for drives with in his truck around Pineville.
James is survived by his wife, Patricia Wyrick Long; son, Kevin Long and his wife, Rebecca; daughter, Michelle Radford and her husband, Neil; grandchildren: Haylie, Dalton and Renee Long, and Coley, Emme and Luke Burleson; brothers, Robert Long and his wife, Cathy, and Eddie Long and his wife, Diane; sisters, Betty Hill and Ruby Baker; son-in-law and special friend Steve Burleson; and many more loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his son, Keith Long; grandson, Will Burleson; brothers, Homer Hancock, Frank Long, Jr., and Jesse Long; and sisters, Elizabeth Starnes, Macie Benton and Darlene Long.
