John Quinn Davisson, age 74, took the hand of Jesus on Monday, March 26, 2018, surrounded by his loving wife of 55 years and three daughters at Hospice House at Southminster. John was born in Mason City, Iowa on September 2, 1943 to Warren and Wilma (Woodward) Davisson. He graduated from Nora Springs-Rock Falls High School in 1961, where he played football and was a member of 4H. He was also involved in Boy Scouts. John met his future wife in high school and after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Moody Air Force base in Valdosta, Georgia. He served from 1961 to 1965 as an Airplane Mechanic. He married Barbara Leone Anderson on November 4, 1962 at First Christian Church in Mason City, Iowa. John was an Industrial Engineer working at Eclipse in Rockford, Illinois until he was promoted and transferred to the Charlotte Branch in 1970. He worked at Eclipse Thermal-Southern Combustion and Controls until he retired. John was very involved in church, and was a deacon for many years and also sang in the choir at First Christian Church and SouthPark Christian Church. He was a master craftsman who enjoyed woodworking, climbing and cutting trees with his good friends, Nascar racing, country music, fishing, spending time in the mountains and with his grandchildren. He also loved watching America’s Funniest Home Videos in the presence of a good meal. His favorite was going to Captain D’s with his friend Troy. John is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Julie (Ron) Hatch of Charlotte, Shari Ashley (Shane Mitchell) of Gastonia, Debbie Howard (Brandon Faulkner) of Matthews and his sister Marcia (Howard) Taylor of Armstrong, Iowa. John Quinn Davisson was “Papa” to six grandchildren whom he adored dearly and loved spending time with very much.  His first grandchild, Paulia Necole Howard, is the one who affectionately titled him "Papa" for the following grandchildren: Zachary Quinn Howard, Colten Davis Hatch, Lexi Kay Howard, Brianna Nicole Hatch and Cheyenne Aleia Mitchell. John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roger Davisson and his niece, Shanin Davisson.
