Obituary of John Arthur Tucker

John Arthur Tucker, Sr., 75, of Charlotte, entered into rest on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. A native of East Point, Georgia, he was the son of the late Durell Wesley Tucker Sr. and Margaret Wallace Tucker. He was a graduate of the Class of 1960 at South Cobb High School and graduated from Georgia Tech. He was a boxer, loved to fish and loved to play with flight simulators and his computer. John was the first person licensed to repair RADAR in the State of North Carolina, worked for the City of Charlotte as the Radio Shop Manager, RCA, Motorola and Two-Way Radio of the Carolinas. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of Faith Life Ministries. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Arthur Tucker, Jr.; by his sisters, Frances T. Wilbanks; and two brothers, Wesley and James E. Tucker. Surviving Mr. Tucker are his daughters, Stacey Turner (Gregg Renfrow) of Charlotte, Vickie Tucker Strickland (Jesse) of Concord, NC and Belle Green (Darrin) of Mint Hill, NC. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Skinner and her husband, Buddy of Carrollton, GA, Margaret Ray and her husband, Mike of Smyrna, GA and five grandchildren, William Trull, III, Maggie Trull, Ruby Trull, Matthew Strickland, and Emily Strickland. McKenzie Trull, his great-granddaughter, also survives him. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12 Noon on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. A service celebrating the life of Mr. Tucker will be held at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Levine & Dickson Hospice House; 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078.
